On 9 July 2020, the LME published its first set of summary statistics on non-warrant stocks, which aim to ensure greater transparency in the global availability of metals. The requirement for warehouses to declare the metal subject to an LME out-of-guard storage agreement was introduced in the LME`s 19/347 decision release following a consultation in 2019. On 25 July 2019, the LME launched a market-wide consultation on the proposals in the inventory reform discussion paper, which it said was a positive step forward for LME`s storage network. The LME is also considering a number of other proposals that were not included in the discussion paper, but for which the LME believes that other measures are appropriate. On November 1, 2019, november 1, 2019, the LME published the results of its consultation on storage area reform, which ended on 12 September 2019. 13 written responses were received and the LME published a report on feedback analysis, which contains a summary of these responses and the LME`s own analysis. All of the above articles must address the need to ensure that the LME`s storage network fully meets the requirements of the global metals market.
